PAINT draws from a selection of contemporary abstract works, digital paintings, collage and analogue drawings, bringing together a gallery of images shaped through colour, line, surface, texture and pattern.
Beginning with marks, fragments, figures, found images, digital surfaces and hand-worked materials, these abstract works are made through physical process, drawing, painting, collage, layering, reversal and reworking. Digital paintings are made by hand; colour fields spread and break open, lines loop and knot, textures accumulate, and forms gather, dissolve or reappear as figures, masks and presences without becoming fully fixed. Narratives and meanings shift, fragment and reassemble in constant dialogue across the image surface.
The works both inform and are informed by photographic ways of seeing, each practice sustaining the other. They move between abstraction, figure, digital painting and analogue mark-making, where image-making becomes a shifting field of surface, colour, accident and reconstruction.
